This is your opportunity to take part in the iconic 'Lands End to John O'Groats' (LEJOG) cycle challenge, organised by The Children's Centre and requiring a minimal amount of time off work ...

Based on the success of the of the team of 23 riders who successfully completed the challenge in 2012, we are pleased to announce that in 2013 we are offering you the chance of participating in this 1000 mile adventure, over nine days (incorporating two week-ends and one bank holiday, so minimal time off work), spanning three countries and touring the length of the British Isles. This is the ultimate British cycling challenge.

Starting at Land’s End on the southwesterly tip of England, we pedal our way through Cornwall, over Dartmoor and north along the Welsh border, skirting the Lake District into Scotland, via lochs and mountains to the North coast and John O’Groats. In all we will cover almost 1000 miles in nine days, passing through some of the most stunning and remote countryside in the British Isles.

This is a tough challenge but a fabulous way to see the country, and one of the most rewarding things you will ever do!

Day 2 Okehampton - Bristol
Day 3 Bristol - Shrewsbury

Day 4 Shrewsbury - Lancaster

An experienced leader will cycle with you each day and be on hand to help with any bike problems that may occur. You will have detailed route notes so that you can go slower or faster than the leader if you prefer, or you can cycle behind him so that you don’t have to navigate at all.

A back up van will 'leap frog' the group a number of times each day so that help is never far away. We will carry a range of spare parts so that repairs can be made en-route and we will have a spare bike available in the event that your bike has a serious breakdown.

This event is suitable for someone with a good level of fitness and who wants a challenge. If you do plenty of training beforehand you should have no problem completing the ride. We will schedule training days around the Island if you would like to join the group before the main event.

It must be stressed that a good amount of training before the ride will make your tour much more enjoyable and ensure that you finish your ride. We are always happy to advise you about training plans in preparation for the ride.

The Children’s Centre's fundraising team will be there every step of the way with advice and support with every apsect of this challenge from fundraising, to kit and we will also help to ensure that your body is in peak physical condition so that you get the most from this once in a life time experience.
