The Children’s Centre is coordinating the largest simultaneous cake sale seen on the Island with their a new fundraising initiative called ‘Cakes for Kids’ taking place on Tuesday 20th July during the Island’s first ever Children’s Week.
The idea behind the event is to get as many organisations as possible across the Island to hold a cake sale on the day and raise money for The Children’s Centre. It doesn’t matter how big or small your organisation is this is an event you can easily get involved in.
For smaller organisations i.e. those where there would be more cakes than staff could buy or eat, then The Children’s Centre can stop by not only to bring cakes for you to buy but also take away excess cakes to sell to other organisations.
Michelle O’Malley, Acting Fundraising Manager for the Charity said, ‘By baking some cakes and selling them in your work place or school you will not only be providing yummy treats for you colleagues and friends but you will also be raising vital funds for the local charity striving to put children, young people and families first.
‘All money raised will go towards supporting charitable projects, Out2Play, Philip Christian Centre, Mobex and Child Contact Centre, which provide positive experiences for children, young people and families across the Island.’
Some local schools including Castle Rushen and Ramsey Grammar have already signed up so this is a great opportunity for children and parents to work together.
All organisations that take part get provided with an event pack which contains posters to advertise their cake sale, a totaliser so you can share how much has been raised with colleagues, some recipe ideas. All organisations that take part also get a certificate of thanks and participation.
