On Saturday 22nd May 99 brave people abseiled down the side of the Royal Bank House in Douglas to raise money for The Children’s Centre. The event which was coordinated by The Children’s Centre and supported by local radio station 3FM and Royal Bank of Scotland International has so far raised a staggering £9500 with another £4,500 pledged!
All money raised on the day will go to support The Children’s Centre’s Mobex Project which provided the technical support for the challenge and within the charity they work with young people from all backgrounds, who, through challenge, adventure activities and creative projects, are able to discover new abilities to succeed in their lives and deal with the issues that adolescence and early adulthood bring.
Mark Eastham, Fundraising Coordinator for the Charity said ‘We were so thrilled with the amount of interest in this challenge; the Isle of Man is definitely an Island of thrill seekers and the fact that they’ve already managed to raise so much money is amazing. We’re also really grateful to all the volunteers who helped on Saturday and to RBSI and 3FM for all their support in putting together the event and also Michael Chapman & Co Chartered Surveyors’.
Steph Tiesteel, Account Executive at 3FM said ‘It was a pleasure for 3FM to support such a well run event, that benefits a very worthy cause on Island. 3FM are always happy to be involved in community events such as this’.
