3rd February 2010
It promises to be one of the most exciting work experience opportunities of all time. A highly motivated, passionate and determined young person is being sought to co-ordinate the Isle of Man’s first ever Children’s Week.
Leading local children’s charity The Children’s Centre are behind the initiative, which aims to celebrate all that is great about children and young people. The week long festivities, planned for late July 2010, hopes to remind everyone of the joy that children bring whilst at the same time recognising concerns for their well being and development. Children’s Week will be co-ordinated by The Children’s Centre but it is hoped that individuals, local companies, government departments and other voluntary organisations will support the scheme by organising their own events and activities.
To ensure that the needs of children and young people remain central to Children’s Week, The Children’s Centre is looking to employ a young person to develop this project over the next six months. With funding provided by the Young Citizen’s Fund, the successful applicant will receive ‘pocket money’, contribution to living costs and a travel allowance alongside full training and personal development opportunities, whilst being fully supported by the Charity’s fundraising team.
“Who better to plan a week of engaging and fun activities for Children’s Week, than a young adult themselves?” said John Knight, Chief Executive of The Children’s Centre. “This really is a unique opportunity for a young adult, aged between 18 and 24 who is in between school and higher education or perhaps has finished university and is looking for some work experience prior to starting their career.”
