Child Contact Centre

We believe that wherever safe to do so, children should remain in contact with both parents but we understand that when a relationship breaks down it is sometimes hard for both parents to spend quality time with their children and this is where The Children’s Centre can help.

Our Child Contact Centre is a friendly and neutral setting where children of separated families can spend time with one or both parents and sometimes other family members. We offer a child centered environment that provides toys, games and facilities so that families can relax together and enjoy themselves.

We welcome families from across the Island: either on their own initiative; or through a referral made by Advocates, Social Services or Family Court Welfare Service.

The level of contact required will depend on the needs of each individual family and we provide contact at five different levels:

  • Pick Up and Drop Off
Requiring minimal supervision and contact with monitoring of greeting and return.
  • Supported Contact
Aimed at assisting interaction and positive experiences for the child.
  • Supervised Contact
Where there may be child protection issues and a contact plan, with close monitoring and feedback to the referring Social Worker or Family Court Welfare Officer.
  • Supervised Contact Assessment
With structured, time limited and focused assessment of ability to provide and maintain appropriate contact.
  • Specialised Contact
Based on individual needs that fall outside of the initial four contact service levels.
