Join our resident felt‑making expert, Annie Eastham, as she guides you through the magical world of wet felting. With outdoor saunas becoming increasingly popular across the Island, now is the perfect time to treat yourself to a unique, hand‑crafted sauna hat, made entirely by you!
What is Wet Felting?
Wet felting is an ancient, eco‑friendly craft that transforms loose wool fibres into a strong, solid textile using just warm water, natural soap, and friction. As the fibres are massaged and rolled, they begin to lock and bind together, gradually shrinking and shaping into a dense, flexible fabric.
It’s wonderfully tactile, perfect for creating a cosy sauna hat.
Make it Your Own - Add Colour and Personality
You’ll also have the chance to personalise your hat using small amounts of coloured wool, felted onto the outside to create patterns, simple designs, initials, or accents. Whether you love calm natural tones or a playful splash of colour, your hat will be truly one‑of‑a‑kind.
Why Wear a Sauna Hat?
Sauna hats help regulate your head temperature, protect your hair from intense heat, and enhance your sauna experience.
Natural wool is an incredible insulator, keeping your head cool while your body warms and relaxes.
