FAQ

How fit do I actually need to be?

This is a challenge, but it’s definitely achievable! You don’t need to be a pro, but you should be comfortable spending long hours in the saddle. Since we have a 118-mile day early on, we recommend a consistent training plan starting a few months out. If you can handle a hilly 50–60 mile ride at home, you’re well on your way!

What happens if I can’t finish a specific leg of the journey?

No rider gets left behind! We have a full support van following the group. If your legs need a rest or you hit a mechanical issue you can’t fix on the road, you can hop in the van for a stretch, grab a snack, and re-join the group when you’re ready.

I’ve never cycled 100+ miles in a single day. Is this for me?

Day 1 is our 'big' one at 118 miles, but remember: the route is mostly flat through that section! We ride at a steady, manageable pace as a group, with plenty of stops for fuel. You’ll be surprised what you can achieve with the team cheering you on.

What kind of bike do I need?

A well-maintained road bike or a high-quality endurance/gravel bike (with road tires) is highly recommended given the 540-mile distance. We also handle the bike transport from the IOM to Europe and back, so your 'best friend' will be waiting for you at the start line!

Is it a race?

Not at all. It’s a team challenge. We start together and aim to finish together. Our goal is to enjoy the scenery, stay safe, and raise as much as possible for The Children’s Centre.

What does the 'Van Support' actually include?

Our support vehicle is a lifesaver! It carries all your heavy luggage (so you only carry your day-ride essentials), provides water refills, snacks, and mechanical assistance, and acts as a mobile cheering squad throughout the 6 days.
